Mt. Baker - Boulder Glacier/Boulder Park Cleaver ascent, Park Headwall ski descent

Date:  July 5th, 2004

Who:  Scott Vetter, Dale Ramquist, Phil Fortier, Bill Frans, Steph Innis, Lori and Sam

Satellite Route Photo:

This was a long day, any way you slice it!  Over 8,100 vertical feet to climb and roughly 6,000 vertical of skiing on the descent.  The route was in excellent condition the entire way.  We did choose to rope up above the top of the cleaver, but conditions were such that we didn't need crampons or even an ice axe...Whippets were the order of the day.  Upon reaching the summit via the Boulder route, it was time to have a look at the Park Headwall.  Scott and Phil chose to ski back down the ascent path while Dale, Bill and I got down to business...

John Scurlock took a photo of the Headwall 9 days after we skied it.  You can't really see our tracks, but our descent route hugged the rocks on the left side of the face.
